I have just gotten some MSC shares at a price of Kshs 12.05. I am going to increase this in the course of the day. I have noted that I always seem to make money by buying a share on the days when it's really been hit by the market as long as there's nothing that has fundamentally changed with the company.

Guys i don't know why everybody is so negative today about mumias , the results are not so bad pat is down only 2% Nobody has commented about the 600 million paid to sugar levy ,what happens to sugar levy money ??

co-generation has brought some revenue and wait for ethanol to start i think in today's hard times Mumias not doing too badly

Are some shrewd punters selling to bring down prices so the can buy some more cheaply ??

Anyone ??

There's NO panic selling yet , i mean look at how low the volumes are. Whats of significance are the closing figures. Bwana Njunge ume sikia hiyo .

QW- i think many of us would think more of you if you just apologised to the elderly gentleman. He called the price on Mumias right. Its down almost 10% today.

So far I have managed to buy about 35,000 at 12.00 to 12.05. I would like to get some more but I am waiting to see whether there will be a selloff at the close, but it is not looking too likely. I would really love to see it get to levels of 11.50. I aim to sell at 13.00 or so on the rebound.

Easy QW. Just because folks are predicting a price below 12 bob doesn't make them haters. As you can see some of us are actively buying and the lower it goes, so much the better. I am betting today's drop is a knee jerk reaction and nerves will steady soon.

The demand/supply at the close shows a bias lower. Those placing bids @11.50 may not be far off the mark.I will still not touch it.

That supply is too huge. I'm not betting against you getting some at 11.50 and even lower. But I agree today's drop was a knee jerk reaction. I don't think I'm wrong when I say the Mumias results were not horrible

@Y. i know t.a isnt everybody's cup of tea but i know @hisah will back me up here.If you look at the volume since wednesday it has been DECREASING.This is a clear indication that 12.00 will hold and a rebound is not very far. Those who are selling let them sell but when the stocks energy changes direction and starts moving up hiyo 15.50 -52 week - high tutavuka nayo kama tinga tinga...
@all MSC haters i have some deep volume analysis to back me up...
But i must agree 10% is a heck of a fall....Ouch !!!!!!

Tanking out at between 11 and 11.50 is possible but investors have become smarter and for most of those who bought between 2.90 and 12 bob in the last 18 months and with MSC not showing growth signs in the near future,it might be time to move on.This money will however not take off from the market.Just shifting and more likely to find refuge in the financials (KCB,Co-op and EB)....My two Zim dollars.

@qw,
Pole Kaka.In this market, you get screwed and when you shout for help, they respond by holding you down and gagging your mouth.Don't worry though.Dead men don't get screwed smile

@Njunge what do you mean by "no growth prospects".You have definately not done your reseach.Let me do it for you .Here are some value drivers for Mumias :

• Increase of the co-generation capacity. Currently
the company sells 26 MW to KPLC at a price of Ksh
4.68/kWh which translates to Kshs 1.1 Bn p.a in
revenues; a 7.5% contribution to the gross
revenues.

• Mumias can convert its molasses output into
65,000 litres per day of ethanol. This could go a
long way in countering the ever-rising petroleum
(fuel) prices.

• Taking advantage of the on-going privatization of
most firms in the industry while effectively
implementing on-going projects.

• Continued compliance with all environmental
regulations in addition to introduction of better
sugar farming systems to cut down on production
costs.

• Fast tracking of reforms to implement a payment
system that is based on sucrose content and not
the current weight-based payment system.

• Aggressive marketing for water, by leveraging on
existing distribution network for Sugar likely to
boost the topline, albeit marginally.

That ought to tell you that there's value in this co.For those who want to sell let them sell you are just making it easy for me tog rip big.
