When SAF ranted at silly points being dropped and why Nani not Giggs took that damned penalty, I wondered why he would 'break' Nani's spirit so early in the season. But then I came across an extract from Carlo Ancelotti's book and he says how SAF treated him after the loss last season:

Carlo On ... Fergie's tantrums:

Our success at Old Trafford was the one that got us the League title, even though in the end Ray Wilkins and I were forced to drink to our victory alone.

As is the tradition, a few minutes after the final whistle we went to Sir Alex's room to drink the usual glass of wine. We walked in and silence reigned. He sat there starting at a television screen; the set was tuned to a horse race, his greatest love.

We were strictly relegated to the background. We stood awkwardly for a while without saying a word, uncertain what to do, and finally did what we had come to do. We drank a glass of wine, to our own health. Bye-bye.

Even though I won the three games I played against him that season, I still consider Ferguson to be a master of soccer, an example I have always looked up to.

I guess SAF was upset by that Drogba "goal" and the asst ref who failed to spot the clear offside.

@Mwenza...true that and knowing that the title just slipped away.

@Radio...me thinks that given the value of a win in the EPL (Moneywise and pridewise) the FA/EPL should have been at the forefront of goal-line technology, video refereeing etc. Otherwise referees mistakes will continue to cost some teams points.

@radio..........When your team does not play well and end up being hit, then you can't offer a reason, you can only offer an excuse for the defeat.

Conversely, when your team is beaten courtesy of a goal scored from a clear offside position, then......................... That is the difference my brother. Anybody who didnt see how Drogba's "goal" was scored, then they didnt watch that match. This is not an excuse but merely a statement of fact. Its that simple.

I thought we are in a new season.or maybe we should go back to 1986 worlcup where maradona scored the hand of god.

See this interesting article on who is the most vital cog in each of the top teams on a chelsea fan website. Whats your take?

Who would you take away from Chelsea competitors in order to weaken them?! This is how I (the author, not me!) think taking away one player will hurt the oppoents the most.

Manchester United. Edwin van der Sar. Rooney scored free-flowing last year, not so much now. Scholes is starting this season fantastically, but he is 36. United do not have a good enough back-up goalkeeper and without van der Sar`s experience and quality they will be much easier to score against. Do not underestimate how important he is for their overall defensive play, not only standing in goal.

Manchester City: Joe Hart has been absolutely amazingly good so far, but take away Carlos Tevez and they lose their heart and lungs. The others have to show they are a team before they are individually important.

Arsenal: Cesc Fabregas is a question mark so far this season, is his heart in London anymore? Still the player Arsenal will miss the most when the league settles and Arsenal will need to grit and fight with the better teams.

Tottenham. Gareth Bale is the main reason why Tottenham are where they are today. It was not until he started to click for Tottenham they started winning regurlarly last season. Modric will probably get a lot of votes, but to me Bale epitomises the change in Tottenham.

Everton. I will go with Tim Cahill. He can do it all. Mikel Arteta is a better player, maybe so is Marouane Fellaini, but Cahill has for such a long time been the backbone of the team.

Liverpool. They must be known as Steven Gerrard FC. Torres is Torres and when playing is vital, but Liverpool is Gerrard and to some extent Carragher. A poor Gerrard (last season) is the difference between a top placed Liverpool and even missing Europe all together. Few teams depend as much on one single player.

Offcourse being a chelsea fan website the writer did not offer who is chelsea's most vital cog!

Yaliopita si ndewele, tugange ya hii season. After the early draw at Fulham, the 3 nil thrashing of the Reds and the 6-0 humiliation of Villa by the Magpies, I'll reserve my comments till Jan, looks like it'll be one shocker of a season!

@smano...fungua roho yako!

@all - Am a little bit unsure of arsenal playing Blackburn away this weekend. All the others have easy home games (Manu face West Ham, Chelsea face stoke city and Liverpool face westbrom) and should register comfortable wins.

And it seems west ham forgot to bribe someone...as after Man-u this weekend, the next game will be Chelsea Think
