OK, the roads' inspector has been at it....just another update as of 21st August....
Malaba - Kampala is still very much OK except the highway cops have taken to chasing down motorists and claim (without using the radar gun) that you were doing 120kph since "Ssebo, we ova took you ati 120kph!" ..some very idiotic approach that almost caused Mrs Djinn to drive her knee into one cop's cojones...since she was the one driving at that point...
Nairobi - Nakuru - be wary of the Naivasha turn off....some vehicles coming from the Naivasha escarpment road join the dual carriageway in a haphazard way since the underpass seems to be undergoing some re-working so cars cut across the lanes going to Nakuru, and cross the island onto the lanes leading to Nairobi. Can be especially hazardous at night or when misty.
Nakuru - Mau Summit - expect a small diversion at Salgaa/Rongai as they mark the road.
Mau Summit - Eldoret - it seems the Chinese contractors have been dragged back on site to replace the Ugali they used at the lumpy sections
, with real bitumen/tar/gravel....so they are on site in some places...and those that are done might be undergoing marking...some sections of this road are real sextions...very orgasmic driving can be had here...be sure to shift the correct gear stick

There are still some ugali sections for Japanese car owners to watch out for...do carry a wire hanger to tie back your tail pipe...
Eldoret - Malaba - a very lumpy downhill section a short distance after Turbo (can't recall the name of the township, but starts with a K...) this must be the section that @SimonKabz talks about above...
While there is a separate discussion abt border crossing modalities to Uganda, I am disinclined to use Malaba again for they seem to have grown slower in terms of processing papers...it took ONE bloody hour (compared to abt 20 minutes at Busia).....
