Being a natural tightwad,I dont pay for data.Use free data from live.mystocks although it shows data for only 9months.You can also use bloomberg for 5yr charts....print the charts and draw trendlines using pencil and ruler, mark the resistance points, look for classic patterns etc..its faster than using clumsy software...and its fun, more of an art.

The problem with the NSE is that there is a serious shortage of research on the index...there is practically no data of more than 20yrs.

For that purpose I use the S&P500 since the performance of the NSE is very comparable and markets nowadays are intertwined.

From the charts of this contrarian we can see we are in a secular bear since 2000(IT bubble) and we'll continue till around 2017Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

What this means is we are in a traders market, buy and hold wont work well for the next 10yrs or so.

Just have a look at the nikkei index,20yrs later and counting and its nowhere near its high of 40000 in 1990(currently below 8000)

Blah blah blah,my two ndururusLaughing out loudly

@sheep - Typical Kenyan! ;-) U want free then complain about the quality!

Anyway, info more than 5 years ago is practically useless considering the massive changes since 2005... CDS, new shareholders thru KenGen, Safaricom...

We have noted that a number of the forum members have been looking for a pirated account to the mystocks website.

I have negotiated with the site owners to give a 10 day trial period for anyone interested in experiencing the site.

To access the trial period click on the link below and follow the instructions Your “Free Offer Link” live.mystocks.co.ke/rl=free_10_day_offer

Let us respect the rights of those who have taken time and effort to develop applications by paying for what they provide it is the only way we can develop local capacity and stop being net importers of everything.

I have always wanted to pay for the standard subscription but although you indicate paypal as an option it CANNOT send money to a Kenyan trader. Sometimes MPESA is not an option for some people who are living outside of Kenya.

Hi QW,

I may have the help that you are seeking on this here matter...I have a system for loading EOD data from the NSE price lists into an metastock format that you can build into charts in Metastock Pro. Drop me an Email at techbizkenya@gmail.com and we see what we can agree on this. smile

@ Wanafunzi, Sheep
The mystockslive data feed and charts is great for the minute by minute, tick by tick updates. And you pay for it. Handsomely. Perhaps I can interest you in a different solution, Free Charting software, free updating data from the NSE price lists, world class charts of Kenyan stocks, no pencil and ruler work here Laughing out loudly (See here: Stock Charts)
The system has a one time set up and cost. Drop me an Email at techbizkenya@gmail.com and I can send you the full details on this. Tech Analysis rocks, it does not have to be painfully expensive!

@ QW...All the data for candlestick is right there on the price list, its just day on day data, not streaming data. You can even create the charts manually in excel, just gets tiresome processing the data manually.
Very sorry, I had just placed the url without using the link button, here it is again. Stock Charts Here
The link is to my photostream on Flickr, a few charts. Maybe there is a specific chart you would like to see to make a believer out of you.
How do you put a screen shot here?
