I totally agree with your sentiments in this issue. I mean its a high time the society learn to embrace this harsh reality and deal with it. It is more comforting to know the number of children your husband has in his other marriages than getting a rude shock when he passes on and more than 5 children with 3 other women come claiming that he was their dad/ husband too. Lets face it any man who is comfortable enough will always look for other women to show off his money and spend on them. Thats a fact so the sooner we accept it the better for all of us, its more relaxing to know where your husband is than to think of him prostituting around with random women. I at times think Islam is best at this because it accepted this kind of life and there is hardly any divorce cases around them unless otherwise. other religion should embrace the same. Lets not be hyprocrites. These things happen and they are getting worse by day. so be it! lets go polygamy way and live happily ever after…. I love you Pala for being real……………..

That was HER opinion not mine. What's yours?

She took the words right out of my mouth, if someone can support financially, shida iko wapi?Saw a similar episode of this on Oprah about polygamist families in the US...outlawed but still happening, looked quite compfortable (the ones who are not adopting the lifestyle in a cult like manner)

Poligamy is good. As long as one has the resources to support the big family it is OK. However, men should be careful not to find yourself in a kirima situation when on your sunset years.

To avoid Kirima situation, divide the wealth among the families/children in your younger days

Question is, would you rather know early - say when the family is still young and so you can jipanga as in you can work harder knowing that the future can be shaky or would rather know when you are all fighting for inheritance?

Ive always asked people (read mamas), for 1,999,900 years men were openly polygamous, in the last 50 - 100 years we are told we must be monogomous. Evolution takes time. Even those strictly monogomous men have really tried as the nature of the human male species is polygamous.

I once told my wife that womens fight for equality started with the discovery of the birth control pill. This allowed them to control when they got pregnant. This was in the early seventies and since then things have been uphill (or is it downhill). If i died and came back after 100 years, women will be marring the men and in another 100 years one woman will marry manay men.

Think about it.

Then I suppose women should also be allowed more than one husband.
