Check out this article in the paper today. It implies that Kenyan banks are excessively greedy and may soon pay for their sins if lobbyists come into the scene. My question is, does this change the long term outlook for bank stocks or should we shareholders ignore this information. The unrealistic profit expectations by the shareholders is cited as one of the reasons the banks have become supersized shylocks. Reading the posts here it seems certain that we always expect profit appreciation in our banks and beyond the billion mark at worst. Any thoughts on this good fellas? d'oh! d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

profits of over 20-30%p.a should not be taken seriously by wise investors...they are too unrealistic to be maintained in the future..unless you really like the excitement of boom and bust economies and a thin wallet.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

@sheep have you studied economics before.??
Kenya's economic boom is probably going to last until 2030... During this period i promise you banks will give double digit profit growth.

As a borrower, what other options do I have?

Banks the world over are always the biggest beneficiaries of an economic boom. The trend will continue

I have tried a third one under Reports on owner... Try it now, it should work.
Go overdrive in purchasing the goods when there's blood on the streets, expecially if the blood is your own

I have never understood why people are in love with bank loans. I strongly believe individuals should leave bank loans to corporates and always go for sacco loans unless it is a matter of life and death!

I agree totally unless one is no sacco member. I have seen friends suffer after taking these unsecured bank loans!!
